As October rolls in and the nights get balmy, we’ve locked in a huge month of programming for our vibey little disco den – a curated cure forrestless feet and minds. Never letting up the pace of an enduring commitment to electronic music, our stacked roster celebrates the depth and rich diversity of our scene, featuring an all Australian lineup of 77 residents, good friends and trusted interstate collaborators.
Local faves and the combo you never knew you needed, Deepa and Milkpaste kick off the month with Fridays at 77 on October 3rd, promising lashings of eclectic grooves and vinyl treasures. The following Saturday night sees two celebrated DJs of the Sydney scene come together for a night of solid house and techno; Red Bull Music Academy alumni Lorna Clarkson and trusted selector Jamie Palmer. Expect a deep musical journey backed by decades of digging.
For our flagship October party on Sunday 5th October, we salute Sydney clubland’s favourite musical son Barney Kato as he celebrates 25 years of DJing. For no less than a quarter-century, Mr. Kato has whipped dance floors into a lather with cutting edge sounds and his encyclopedic knowledge of electronic music. From warehouse bashes to festival stages andBoiler Rooms, Barney has curated memorable nights for generations of clubbers and supported names such as Gerd Janson, Skatebård, Special Request and Lauer. Come and be a part of electronic music history and give props a massive supporter of the scene.

On Friday 10th we welcome Maggie Tra back to 77 – a Viet-Australian DJ and producer who delights in fusing the traditional sounds of her Khmer/Vietnamese background with contemporary dance music. Maggie will be joined by the South Korean born, Eora based Mimi J – a devoted vinyl enthusiast whose sets seamlessly traverse the realms of disco house, deep house and rave. Then on Saturday 11th, ask yourself: What's better than a Phil Smart set? The answer: A 7-hour Phil Smart set. Give yourself over to one of our best as Australia’s answer to Andrew Weatherall crafts an all-night exploration of house music like only he can.
Celebrated Adelaide producer Strict Face – whose tracks have made their way into the crates of tastemakers like Skrillex and DJ Plead – brings the frenetic bass energy to Fridays at 77 onOctober 17th, joined by Eora selector and FBi Radio regular louli. On Saturday 18th, we hand the reins over to A Love Supreme / Planet Trip tastemakers Benny Chiu and Mike Who. Expect a night of kaleidoscopic rhythms and genre-bending selections as we journey into the cosmic corners of disco, house and balearic sounds.
Friday October 24th sees 77 resident Wavyrager and Byron Bay-bred Only Child step up forFridays at 77 duties, serving up a night of adventurous techno, trance and left-of-centre grooves. Saturday 25th backs up the energy with our trusted resident and self-confessed Beatles obsessive Reenie, joined by a Sydney icon for 20-plus years, Matt Vaughan; creator of the city’s most revered queer parties, Loose Ends. Known for his wide-ranging tastes spanning house and techno, disco and funk, pop, hip-hop and soul, there’s no telling where the night may venture.
Saving the best for last and rounding out the month in style, we are excited to hand programming duties over to Naarm/Melbourne collective Chuleo Club on Friday 31st October. Renowned for pushing the musical envelope, get ready for an onslaught of cutting-edge club sounds and global infused grooves from selectors Zalina, Tina DIsco, Attu, Lau and Brina.
