Amal - OR WHAT RMX

Lush Hip-hop instrumentals chopped and layered over some B’more breaks make this song a frequent appearance in my sets. It’s laid back but punches through any crowd. Everything Amal from Black Rave Culture touches turns to gold and this track is no exception.

Merca Bae - Las Gatas Megamix

I can’t lie it took a lot of restraint to not reference Merca Bae on every track in this list but my recent favourite from their infamous “Zip” series of club tools has been on heavy rotation since I first heard it. Sinister sub bass, rave ready stabs, high energy drum work; it’s perfect DnB but it’s just a little more than that.

Actual - Kotahitanga Edit

Another great compilation, this time from my home turf, Aotearoa club connoisseurs Glitz Club present Merry Glitzmas and more specifically this ethereal Jersey club track by Actual that I can’t get enough of.

BENFIKA - Caida

Rhythmic, percussive, energetic trance from Latin Club don Benfika. It’s “Rave”, it's “Club” , it's everything I want to hear pounding through a redlining sound system.

DJ Funk, Sinjin Hawke - Three Fine Hoes (Sinjin Hawke Remix)

I’d be pressed to name a club night or house party I’ve played recently that hasn’t been witness to this song, R.I.P DJ Funk, a pioneer and inspiration to so many. Sinjin Hawke on the remix, if the term “triumphant horns” means anything to you, these are the most triumphant. Cinematic ambience and beat that runs circles around you.
