Iconic Sydney/Eora Venue Club 77 Announces a Massive Line-up of Resident and Guest DJs for 2023

Nina Las Vegas, DJ Plead, Jono Ma, dameeeela, Assembler Code, DITA, Phil Smart, Barney Kato and Mike Who are just a handful DJs joining the stacked residents/guest roster
Never letting up the pace of its enduring commitment to electronic music and late-night culture, iconic Sydney/Eora nightspot Club 77 has revealed an epic roster of resident and guest DJs who will define the club’s diverse and forward-facing programming in 2023.
In what has become a somewhat undervalued aspect of the nightlife industry in recent times, Club 77 recognises the vital role resident DJs play in establishing the romantic connection between club and community. To reinstate what has been an essential component of nightclub culture since the 1970s, Club 77 has hand-picked some of Australia’s finest tastemakers to play at the venue week-in/week-out, or sit in-residence for a month to curate a line-up of exciting guest DJs.
Sydney Record Store vinyl slinger Barney Kato and Planet Trip Records head-honcho Mike Who lead the charge of Club 77’s newly appointed resident DJs, bringing with them a wealth of skill, effortless taste and deep musical knowledge. They are joined by a pair of exceptionally talented DJs at the forefront of Sydney’s new generation - Evie and Reenie. All four DJs will play on a rotating basis across the club’s versatile program.
Fridays at 77 sees a solid selection of residents kick off the weekend in style – Deepa, Ciara, Wavyrager and Jhassic. All four DJs are no stranger to 77, having regularly played at the club since last year’s relaunch. Each bring their own distinct and alternative sound to 77’s diverse line-up and will be collaborating with the club to curate the Friday night line-ups.
For punters eager to get their weekday dance-floor fix, Club 77 has you covered. Every Tuesday you can catch resident DJ Raffi Lovechild and friends digging deep into their collections to bring you the finest in soul, funk, afro, latin, Brazilian, world, disco, hip hop and ‘80s oddities.
On Thursdays, 77’s flagship slo-mo night Tempo Comodo sees iconic legend Phil Smart play alongside some of the country’s finest downtempo and slow groove selectors.
Phil Smart will also be playing a series of special nights throughout 2023. Following his unforgettable marathon set back in January - which saw him deliver a huge 10-hour set to a frothing crowd - Mr Smart is gearing up to do it all again in May, this time back-to-back with prolific producer, remixer and DJ, Jono Ma of Jagwar Ma fame [Official date TBA].
77 In Residence is a unique concept where the club hands programming duties over to a resident guest DJ to curate Saturday night lineups for an entire month. The invigorating project takes off in March fronted by DJ, producer, radio host and Yuggera woman, dameeeela, who has selected a jaw-dropping roster of names to join her throughout the month in the form of Nina Las Vegas, DJ PGZ, Kilimi, Crescendoll, Tyaka and HALFQUEEN.
77 In Residence then continues throughout 2023 with some of the scene’s most exciting DJs curating Saturday night line-ups for a month at a time, including the Aussie born/German based DJ Plead (May), DJ PGZ (September), Lauren Hansom (October), plus Indonesian powerhouse DITA (November), and Assembler Code x PALACE [Official date TBA].
In line with what has always been a vital component of the venue’s attitude and spirit, Club 77 will continue to lead the way with a forward-facing approach to inclusivity and community. A welcoming environment for all races, genders and members of the LGBTQI community, 77 is both an innovative party environ and a safe space for freedom and expression.
