DJ Plead Curates a Stellar Lineup of Guests For His Highly Anticipated May Residency at Club 77

The Lebanese-Australian hard drum producer invites Ehua, Cassius Select, Ben Fester, Merph and more to join him for his Saturday night residency

Hawaiian Dance Scene Pioneer Jimmy San Just Announced for Intimate Mid Week Set

Sydney / Eora based producer, DJ Plead, is gearing up to take over Club 77 every Saturday night throughout the month of May, personally hand-picking a diverse line-up of the best underground talent Australia has to offer. It’s all part of the club’s ongoing In Residence series, where Club 77 hands over programming duties to a resident guest DJ to curate Saturday night line-ups for an entire month.

Undeniably one of the most innovative artists to shake up underground music the last few years, the globe-trotting DJ Plead has been turning heads and moving feet at festivals and clubs the world over with a hard, percussive sound heavily indebted to his Lebanese roots. From his dabke inspired productions like ‘Get in Circle’ and ‘Baharat’ to reinterpreting Egyptian pop-star Ruby’s infamous ‘Leih Beydary Keda’, Plead is one of the few artists in the game pushing a sound that’s fresh, avant-garde, banging, and above all, distinctly Arab.

Kicking off what is guaranteed to be a massive month of bleeding-edge club sounds and rhythms, Saturday 6 May sees Cassius Select and Gillielove joining Plead behind the decks. Cassius Select has earned a solid reputation for uncompromising broken beat sets and productions, while Eora DJ Gillielove woos Sydney floors with experimental rave sounds and hosts the excellent Off Duty show on Nomad Radio.

On Saturday 13 May, Plead has secured two of Eora’s most exciting selectors, Merph and Ciara. Merph is a champion of inclusivity within Sydney clubland, running the much-loved Apparent Motion show on Skylab Radio, while Ciara, among her many appearances at gigs across the city, is one of four DJs holding down 77’s Friday night in-house residency.

Plead’s residency then hits its stride on Saturday 20 May with a massive Sumac Label Night takeover. Expect a night of sweaty dance floor abandon as all three label co-founders – DJ Plead, Jon Watts and T.Morimoto – lead the musical charge alongside the ever-amazing underground DJ and producer, Jannah Quill.

Closing out a massive final night on Saturday 27 May is a very special international guest, the London-based, Italian-Ivorian artist, producer and DJ, Ehua, who has remixed records for Ninja Tune and played at some of Europe’s most iconic festivals with her percussion-influenced take on experimental techno. Ehua will be joined by Sydney club royalty - the man, the myth, the legend, the Heavenly party boss and the name that has inspired a slew of Sydney’s new wave of talent, Ben Fester.
